The Split-Rocker origin story
Limited edition
Edition of 999Shipping begins in May and finishes in September.
Jeff Koons reimagines his spectacular floral public artwork as a new limited edition Split-Rocker.
This edition is based on Split-Rocker, a towering ‘living’ sculpture that merges two children’s toys – a rocking horse and a rocking dinosaur. First exhibited in 2000, the original 37-foot stainless steel structure is covered with over 50,000 flowering plants that are cultivated by a dedicated team. The latest of these monumental sculptures is currently installed at LACMA, which this release supports.
The work came about when Jeff imagined combining his son's toy pony with a dinosaur rocker, back in the ‘90s, fusing them into a single whimsical form. This playful hybrid exemplifies the artist’s signature approach: elevating everyday objects and childhood nostalgia into art that captivates audiences worldwide.
The limited edition is made from tinted beech wood, distilling the spirit of Jeff's monumental sculpture into a collectable piece of warmth and playfulness. Each is individually numbered and features an engraved signature. This is an early access release of 333 of 999 at an introductory price. The remaining editions launch later this year.
