Orders and shipping
You can find the estimated shipping timeline on the artwork’s product page. Once your order is confirmed, we’ll send you an email with the order details and your estimated dispatch window.
To check your order status at any time, simply log in to your Avant Arte account and go to Account > Orders.
We thoroughly check every artwork before dispatch. In general, orders are shipped within 2 to 4 weeks. However, the exact dispatch timeline depends on the type of artwork and its production stage at the time of purchase.
For example, time-limited editions begin production only after the release ends, once the final edition size is confirmed. These editions often take longer to arrive. If you’ve ordered one of these, you’ll receive email updates throughout the process to keep you informed of the expected dispatch date.
If you’ve selected a framed print, please allow additional time, as all our frames are bespoke and made to order.
We ship all of our artworks in bespoke packaging – designed to ensure safe arrival. A certificate of authenticity (where applicable) is placed in the box. Shipping labels and customs documents are affixed to the outside. Please take care when opening and unpacking. We recommend using the enclosed gloves to handle your artwork.
Please note that if you order more than one of the same print unframed, your artworks may be shipped in the same box. Framed prints will arrive in their own box.
All orders are dispatched from the Netherlands using our selected premium carriers. Shipping costs depend on the size, weight and destination of your piece. Shipping costs are calculated prior to checkout and included in the total cost of your order.
Additional taxes, duties and customs charges may apply depending on your location. For artworks with free shipping, taxes, duties and customs charges may still apply and will be charged based on your location. See more details in our Support section here.
Yes! We ship internationally using selected global carriers.
Please be aware that international orders may be subject to the relevant customs duties of the destination country. Duty tax should be paid upon arrival and are in addition to shipping and handling costs. Unfortunately as customs charges are governmental taxes, we cannot discount or reimburse you for these costs. See more details in our Support section here.
Exceptions:
- If your delivery address is in Canada, Japan, Switzerland or the United Kingdom we include duty tax in our shipping fee.
- If your delivery address is in the United States, orders placed in 2026 will be shipped Delivered Duties Paid (DDP), meaning you will not be billed for any customs charges upon delivery. Orders confirmed in 2025 will be shipped Delivered at Place (DAP) and may incur customs tariffs. If you receive an invoice and need assistance, please contact us at collecting@avantarte.com.
If your country is not an option at checkout, please email us at info@avantarte.com and we'll contact our carriers directly to get a delivery quote.
For certain countries, a customs broker may need to be appointed to facilitate shipments. It is the collector’s responsibility to understand the import requirements for their country. If a broker is not appointed and the shipment is seized by customs, we will not be able to provide a refund for the order or ship a replacement. While we are happy to assist where possible, we cannot be held liable for any costs, fees, or delays incurred due to customs, taxes, or import regulations.
If your country is not an option at checkout, please email us at info@avantarte.com and we'll contact our carriers directly to get a delivery quote.
We declare all shipments as limited edition artworks, subject to the nature of the piece ordered. We will declare the amount you paid for the work.
We cannot mark your shipment as a gift.
You may be asked to complete an additional form before your artwork can be delivered. Goods entering the US may be subject to formal entry procedures by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which include assigning the shipment to a registered importer – in this case, you as the buyer.
To become an Importer of Record, you’ll need to complete the CBP Form 5106. This form requires either your Employer Identification Number (EIN) for businesses, or your Social Security Number (SSN) for individuals. This process is managed directly by US Customs and falls outside our control.
Once your artwork has been dispatched, the courier will contact you via email with a link to complete the CBP Form 5106 electronically. This form must be completed and signed within five business days to avoid the shipment being returned.
This form does not mean you’ll be charged any additional fees—it simply provides Customs with the information they need to release your shipment. Please note that your order’s confirmation date determines how your shipment is booked, which may affect whether customs fees apply:
- Orders placed in 2026 will be shipped Delivered Duties Paid (DDP), meaning you will not be billed for any customs charges upon delivery.
- Orders confirmed in 2025 will be shipped Delivered at Place (DAP) and may incur customs tariffs. If you receive an invoice and need assistance, please contact us at collecting@avantarte.com.
We understand this may be an unexpected step, and we’re here to help make the process as smooth as possible. If you receive any requests from CBP or the courier, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@avantarte.com – we’ll do our best to assist you.

We ship all works from our headquarters in The Netherlands.
VAT
We charge VAT when shipping to EU addresses at the local rate. When an EU-based customer checks out, we’ll display the VAT automatically.
If you are buying art for a VAT registered business, get in touch first and we can provide a VAT exempt invoice.
Duty tax
Shipping artwork outside of the EU is often subject to duty tax. The taxed amount varies depending on the artwork and customs laws in the delivery country.
If your delivery address is in Canada, Japan, Switzerland or United Kingdom we include duty tax in our shipping fee. This allows us to charge at the local rate and avoid border delays.
If your delivery address is elsewhere, please note that it is the buyer’s responsibility to pay for any taxes and customs charges.
U.S. Sales tax
We are required by law to collect sales tax in certain states. If your shipping address is in one of these states, sales tax will be automatically calculated and added to your total during checkout.
If you are a tax-exempt organisation, please contact us with your exemption certificate prior to placing your order. We do not guarantee exemption from sales tax unless proper documentation is submitted and approved before the order is processed.
We ask all Avant Arte collectors to sign a Resale Agreement. You'll be asked to sign this when you place an order.
The motivation behind this is that we want our artist's works to be enjoyed in the collections and the homes of our collectors. That's why we ask all collectors to sign an agreement to not resell their piece for 2 years.
We understand that collections evolve and collectors may want or need to sell pieces. In that instance, we want to make sure that our collector community has the first opportunity to buy any works that are going to be made available and that we can protect our artist by facilitating this privately.
Please note that while this resale agreement applies to most of our editions, it does not apply to all. If it is applicable, it will be clearly stated on the website’s product page under the ‘Payment, Policies and Shipping’ section.
We ship all orders on our standard service using premium global carriers. If you require express shipping, please contact us directly and we can get this sorted.
Most shipments are delivered within 3-7 business days, depending on location. Please contact us via the website chat or email info@avantarte.com and we'll provide you with more information where we can.
VAT is only required when shipping to an address within the EU, and will be charged at the local VAT rate.
When browsing from a country within the EU, the prices are displayed inclusive of VAT.
If you are buying art for a VAT registered business, get in touch first and we can provide a VAT exempt invoice.
We use FedEx DHL and TNT, along with carefully chosen fine art shipping companies to make sure your work arrives in perfect condition.
