DRIFT channels the collective intelligence of swarming starlings in a new light artwork.
This limited edition is based on Flylight, a site-specific installation inspired by the behaviour of starlings. In the original 2015 work by the Dutch duo, a custom algorithm controls a cluster of hanging glass tubes with lights, changing their movement and brightness depending on where the viewer stands. The piece reveals the ultimate paradox of the swarm: while each bird moves freely, together they create something greater than themselves.
For the artists, this limited edition, crafted in copper and glass, invites collectors to join the swarm itself, each owner becoming an individual part within a larger interconnected network.
