Bio
Luc Tuymans is a Belgian artist widely regarded as one of the most significant painters of his generation, best known for his muted, figurative paintings that draw on pre-existing imagery and explore the moral and psychological dimensions of history and memory. His restrained palette and often subtly blurred imagery confront the power of images to shape cultural consciousness and reflect on the coexistence of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ in lived experience.
Since the early 1990s, Tuymans has been a central figure in contemporary painting, with major solo exhibitions worldwide and work held in leading international museum collections, including Tate, the Museum of Modern Art, and Centre Pompidou.
