Limited edition
Edition of 300Shipping estimated 12-19 October
Zeng Fanzhi brings one of the most iconic works of Chinese contemporary art to a new limited edition silkscreen print.
The Mask Series began after the artist moved from Wuhan to Beijing in the early 1990s, and established Fanzhi as a defining voice of his generation. The works portray figures in Western suits wearing blank, expressionless masks, evoking the alienation he experienced whilst navigating unfamiliar social codes, new acquaintances, and a rapidly changing China. "I felt deeply connected to the collision between people’s fervent pursuit of well-being and their inner struggle," Fanzhi has said. Through oil paints manoeuvred with a palette knife, the artist created abstract details and blurred drapery to “capture a collective memory of that period”.
This limited edition silkscreen print is available in an edition of 300.
