A polished yet surreal portrait combines sleek modernism with Paul Insect's street art influences.

Supercharged with colour, Dada-esque Super Glow showcases the artist’s signature motifs. The subject’s features are revealed under a scintillating mask, reminiscent of a sharp-edged stencil. Behind lies a number of Insect’s identifying motifs – intricate pointillism, paint splashes and multi-textured collage. Set upon a vibrating neon backdrop, the portrait comes to life in through 32 silkscreen layers and hand-applied diamond dust.

Framing

Two framing options are available. A matte white painted wooden frame with visible grain, a matte black painted wooden frame with visible grain – both mounted on an off-white back board and fitted with UV plexiglass for protection.

Medium

25 colour silkscreen, printed in 32 layers and finished with clear diamond dust on 410gsm Somerset Radiant White paper.

Finishing

Individually signed and dated by the artist.

Behind the scenes

Paul Insect22 collaborationsBritish artist Paul Insect rose to fame in the ‘90s for his pivotal role in the London street art scene. Since then, he’s become a mainstay of British contemporary art – bringing the influence of his DIY roots into his studio practice. In many ways, Insect looks a lot like his paintings: his graphic, mixed-media portraits wear masks that cover their faces, and so does he. “There are two sides to people,” Insect explains, “the side you want everyone to see and the side you would rather keep to yourself.” For Insect, the side he’d rather keep to himself is his appearance, staying anonymous by covering his face online and in interviews. He prefers his art to speak for itself – and the unique, effervescent blend of portraiture, Pop Art, Dada and street art certainly has a life of its own.
