Remembrance is a translation of the artist’s original porcelain sculpture from his acclaimed Lucid Dream II series, which explores the liminal space between the conscious and subconscious through emotive sculptures of contorted faces.
In this work, Johnson intertwines two faces to symbolise how memories "constitute the scenery of our lives" and shape our present sense of self. For Johnson, the piece embodies a necessary acceptance of the past, capturing the delicate fusion between holding on and letting go.
